Monkeypox is an infectious viral disease that can occur in humans and some other animals.The virus which causes monkeypox originates from the same ‘family’ as smallpox, Smallpox vaccine thought to prevent monkeypox infection in humans. However, monkeypox is significantly less severe than smallpox. According to the WHO, Monkeypox's symptoms include fever, swollen lymph nodes, and a rash that forms blisters and then crusts over.The time from exposure to onset of symptoms ranges from five to twenty-one days. In late-July 2022, the World Health Organization declared the worldwide outbreak of monkeypox a public health emergency. The worldwide number of cases has risen to 21,099 as of July 29.
