The company has 121 showrooms in 16 states, all of which operate under the Havertys brand name and do not franchise stores. The company provides financing services through an internal revolving charging credit program, as well as third-party finance companies. The company operates a business division, household goods retailing. The company's founder, J.J. Haverty, started operations in Atlanta, Georgia, in 1885, when the company had only one store and used horse-drawn carriages for delivery. The company grew to 18 stores through its initial public offering in October 1929 and added additional development capital.
