New Oriental Education & Technology Group Inc. was established on August 18, 2004. In 1993, the company's founder and executive chairman Yu Minhong opened the first school in Beijing to provide TOEFL test preparation courses for college students. According to Frost & Sullivan, after nearly 30 years of operation, the company has become the most comprehensive private education service provider in China according to the services and products it provides. According to the same source, for the fiscal year ended May 31, 2020, the Company was the largest private education service provider in China in terms of total net revenue and network of schools and learning centers. As of May 31, 2020, the company has served more than 55.4 million students since its establishment. The company mainly provides educational services under the "New Oriental" brand. According to Frost & Sullivan, the company has become the only educational company in China to be awarded the "Top 50 Most Valuable Business Service Brands in the World" by Brand Finance in 2020.
