Trupanion, Inc., was founded in Canada in 2000 under the name Vetinsurance Ltd. In 2006, the company reorganized its business and became a subsidiary of Vetinsurance International, Inc. In 2007, the company started doing business for Trupanion. In 2013, the company officially changed its name from Vetinsurance International, Inc. to Trupanion, Inc.
