Steel Dynamics, Inc., was founded in Indiana in August 1993. The company is one of the largest domestic steel producers and metal recyclers in the United States, and has one of the most diverse product and end-market portfolios in the domestic steel industry, combined with meaningful downstream steel manufacturing operations, based on estimates of approximately 16 million tons of steelmaking and steel coating capacity and actual metal recycling volume as of December 31, 2023. The company's current main sources of income are the manufacture and sale of steel products, the processing and sale of recycled ferrous and non-ferrous metals, and the manufacture and sale of steel joists and deck products.
