Iridium Communications Inc., a Delaware corporation, provides voice and data communication services and products to merchants, U.S. government agencies, international government agencies and other customers worldwide. The company provides mobile voice and data communication services through a group of LEO satellites, and holds various licenses and is authorized by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) and foreign regulators to allow the company to conduct business, including satellite operations.
Iridium Holdings was established in 2000 under the laws of the State of Delaware and acquired several satellite assets from Iridium, a non-partisan creditor, under an asset purchase agreement on December 11, 2000 through its wholly-owned subsidiary, Iridium Satellite LLC. Iridium Corporation refers to the Iridium Holding Group, together with its direct and indirect subsidiaries.
