Hawthorn Bancshares, Inc., is a bank holding company registered under the Bank Holding Companies Ordinance, 1956, as amended. Hawthorn Corporation was formed under Missouri law on October 23, 1992 as Exchange National Bancshares Corporation and later changed its name to Hawthorn Bancshares Corporation in August 2007. Hawthorn Bancshares and Union State Bancshares hold each other's issued and outstanding share capital, respectively. Both companies were approved by the Federal Reserve and elected as financial holding companies on October 21, 2001. The company provides banking services to a wide range of individuals and corporations who live in the community and in the surrounding cities of Jefferson, Clinton, Warsaw, Springfield, Branson and Lee's Summit, Missouri. The company faces competition from financial products offered by other financial and non-financial institutions. In addition, Hawthorn Bancshares and its subsidiaries are subject to the norms established by the regulatory bodies and are subject to their regular review.
