GSI Technology, Inc., was founded in California in 1995 as Giga Semiconductor, Inc., changed its name to GSI Technology in December 2003, and was registered in Delaware as GSI Technology, Inc in June 2004. The company develops and sells high-performance memory products, including "Very Fast" static random access memory, or memory, and low-latency dynamic random access memory, and mainly sells high-performance network and telecommunications equipment, such as routers, switches, WAN infrastructure equipment, wireless base stations and network access equipment. In addition, it provides high-performance memory for the military, industrial, test equipment and medical markets. It considers itself a major provider of "Very Fast" products based on the performance characteristics of the products and the breadth of the company's product portfolio. The company sells its products to leading original equipment manufacturers, and its customers include Alcatel-Lucent, Cisco and Huawei Technologies. The company utilizes the business model of the production line, which allows the company to concentrate its resources on R & D, product design and marketing with only moderate capital investment and fixed cost to obtain advanced process technology.
