Zoom Communications, Inc. (NASDAQ: ZM) has announced the release of new agentic AI capabilities with the Custom AI Companion add-on, designed to enhance productivity and collaboration across various platforms. The add-on, available for online purchase, connects Zoom AI Companion to 16 third-party apps, enabling users to complete tasks without leaving Zoom.
The Custom AI Companion add-on, previously available only to online customers, now allows small business owners to leverage AI Companion across third-party video conferencing platforms such as Google Meet and others. The add-on offers extended capabilities, including AI meeting summaries, customized meeting summaries, and real-time call questions. Users can also create custom avatars and connect third-party apps to boost productivity.
The new capabilities include the ability to connect to apps like Amazon Q, Glean, and Jira to deliver powerful indexing, enterprise search, and ticketing capabilities. Additionally, AI Companion can help streamline workflows, reduce manual effort, and ensure customer interactions drive meaningful business results when connected to applications like ServiceNow and Zendesk.
The add-on also supports document collaboration by connecting to platforms like Microsoft OneDrive, Google Drive, and Box. Users can access existing documents during meetings, generate new documents, update existing documents, and get quick summaries. For project management, AI Companion can connect to Asana and Jira to update project statuses, assign tasks, and set deadlines without app-juggling or manual workflows.
The Custom AI Companion add-on is now available for $12 per user per month with paid Zoom Workplace plans. It expands AI Companion’s meeting summary capabilities to third-party video conferencing platforms and delivers agentic AI capabilities to help small businesses get more done.
The new capabilities are included at no extra charge as part of Zoom AI Companion for all paid Zoom Workplace licenses. The onboarding experience within the Zoom desktop app makes it easier to configure AI Companion settings, including meeting summaries and agenda creation. Users can also query AI Companion before, during, and after Zoom Phone calls to gain deeper insights.
Zoom’s mission is to provide an AI-first work platform for human connection. The Custom AI Companion add-on is a significant step towards achieving this goal, empowering users to be more productive and collaborative.
