Zoom's $802K Insider Sale Comes as Eric Yuan Also Cuts His Stake-Why That Matters Now

Subotovsky's sale matters because it adds to the signal from leadership
The issue is not only Subotovsky's $802,000 sale. It is that the sale comes as ZoomZM-- shares sit near $104.50, still within double digits of the $114.74 52-week high. At that level, insider selling is harder to dismiss as routine background activity.
Two sales from the top
Santiago Subotovsky sold 7,911 shares for about $801,622. That cut his direct ownership by 5.86% to 127,060 shares. The filing says the trade was made under a Rule 10b5-1 plan, so the scheduled-trade defense applies. Even so, it still reflects a decision to realize liquidity rather than increase exposure, and it fits a broader pattern: Zoom insider activity since 2021 shows 0 shares purchased versus roughly 5.8 million shares sold.
Eric Yuan's sale is the more visible one. He sold 12,100 shares, reducing his stake by 34.47% and leaving him with 22,998 shares. Even if both transactions were prearranged, the timing still raises a basic alignment question: key insiders have less capital at stake just as the stock has recovered close to its recent highs.
The bullish case still has enough support to temper the bearish read
That said, the filings alone do not settle the outlook for Zoom.

Why investors remain constructive on Zoom
The bull case rests on more than a rebound narrative. Zoom has benefited from a stronger first-quarter report, new AI product pushes, and management's upbeat near-term guidance. Investors have also noted Benchmark's $125 target as one example of outside support for the idea that Zoom is becoming more than a video-conferencing company.
That does not guarantee success, but it helps explain why the stock has stayed firm despite the insider-sale headlines.
What matters next for investors
At $104.50 and about 15.35x earnings, Zoom is not trading like a distressed turnaround. It is trading like a business the market still expects to reward for execution. So these filings are better read as a reason to watch the next proof points closely than as a standalone short signal.
Earnings, not headlines, are the near-term test
The recent optimism was tied to the stronger first-quarter report and positioning ahead of the close of Zoom's fiscal second quarter on July 31. The next results cycle should show whether that optimism is backed by continued execution. If it is, the platform story can hold. If not, the recent insider selling will matter more because investors will have less reason to defend the stock's current multiple.
