YouTube, a subsidiary of Google (GOOGL.US), is set to introduce a cost-effective package called "Premium Lite" in the United States, Australia, and other markets.
YouTube, the video streaming service owned by Google (GOOGL.US), is reportedly planning to launch a new low-priced subscription package for those who mainly want to watch non-music videos. The service, known as "Premium Lite", will reportedly be rolled out in the US, Australia, Germany and Thailand soon. A spokesperson for YouTube said: "As part of our commitment to providing users with more choice and flexibility, we have been testing a new YouTube Premium service in multiple markets that offers an ad-free viewing experience for most videos. We hope to expand this service to more users with the support of our partners in the future." Earlier reports suggested that the Premium Lite package had been tested in overseas markets for several months. It is expected to be officially rolled out more widely, including for the first time in the US.
