YouTube will log out millions of teens in Australia next week due to the Social Media Minimum Age Act, which requires platforms to prevent under-16s from having accounts. The law, which takes effect on Dec. 10, will force teens to watch YouTube without signed-in protections. YouTube opposed the law, saying it will not make kids safer online and will make them less safe on the platform. The company will log out both viewers and creators until they turn 16.
