Youth and Black Unemployment Rates Soar in November: A Closer Look

The unemployment rate for youths aged 16-19 surged to 16.3% in November, while the rate for Blacks increased to 8.3%. The overall unemployment rate rose to 4.6%. The increase in unemployment rates occurred since the bottom in April 2023, with Blacks experiencing a 3.5 percentage point increase and youths a 6.9 percentage point increase.
