Youmio, a blockchain platform designed to enable AI agents as core participants in digital ecosystems, has partnered with
to deploy its first Layer 1 (L1) chain specifically tailored for autonomous software agents. The collaboration leverages Avalanche’s infrastructure to address scalability, speed, and interoperability needs, positioning Youmio as the first blockchain to natively support AI agents as protocol-level entities. The initiative includes the development of Mios, 3D AI characters capable of evolving across applications and games, and an agent-token model where rewards are tied to usage or creator-defined rules [1].Michael O’Connor, co-founder and CEO of Youmio, emphasized the necessity of open infrastructure for AI agents, stating that without such systems, agents risk being controlled by centralized entities. Youmio’s architecture assigns each agent a wallet, modular skills, and an evolving metadata state, with outputs optionally minted as cryptographic proofs. This approach contrasts with general-purpose L1s, which are not optimized for agent behavior [1]. Avalanche’s infrastructure, with its 6 million funded wallets and 3 million monthly active users, provides the foundation for deploying these agent-native systems at scale [1].
Luigi DeMeo of Ava Labs praised Youmio’s design, noting that the chain avoids retrofitting agents into existing blockchain models. Instead, it builds infrastructure purposefully tailored to agent requirements, enabling “massive tokenization of AI agents on Avalanche” [1]. The collaboration also includes Youmio’s integration into Avalanche Foundation’s $15 million InfraBUIDL(AI) initiative, which supports AI projects. O’Connor highlighted the initiative’s focus on empowering creators to push the boundaries of agent capabilities while aligning with Youmio’s goals [1].
Youmio’s launchpad for Mios introduces a new paradigm in AI character creation. These multi-agentic entities can evolve through interactions, carry memory across platforms, and operate with user-controlled privacy settings. The platform’s emphasis on verifiable provenance and authorship on-chain aims to address trust and security challenges in AI development [1]. Avalanche’s low-latency architecture ensures real-time coordination among agents, a critical feature for dynamic, decentralized environments [1].
The partnership reflects Avalanche’s strategy to attract specialized use cases, particularly in AI and gaming. By supporting Youmio’s L1 chain, Avalanche positions itself as a platform for composable, agent-driven applications. The Avalanche Foundation’s involvement underscores its commitment to fostering innovation in blockchain-based AI infrastructure [1].
