New York City Allocates $3 Million for Guaranteed Income Pilot Program in 2026

In the 2025 financial year, the New York City Council allocated $1.5 million to support a guaranteed income pilot program designed to assist expectant mothers in improving maternal health and reducing child poverty. This program, run in partnership with The Bridge Project, a nonprofit focused on helping low-income expectant mothers, provided regular income with no strings attached for the first three years of their children’s lives to 161 pregnant women experiencing housing insecurity.

The guaranteed income program is expected to benefit a wide range of residents, including those disproportionately affected by economic hardships. By providing a stable source of income, the program will help alleviate financial stress and improve the overall well-being of the community.
