Ripple CEO Brad Garlinghouse expressed his enthusiasm for a significant update to the decentralized public blockchain XRP Ledger (XRPL) on Wednesday. The update, version 2.5.0, introduces a range of new features and bug fixes, enhancing the overall functionality and reliability of the XRPL. Key amendments include improvements to escrow functionality, the ability to group and execute multiple transactions, and the addition of permissioned decentralized exchanges. These enhancements are designed to make the XRPL more competitive with other blockchain platforms like Ethereum and Solana in terms of speed, efficiency, and reliability.

The XRPL v2.5.0 release was met with positive reactions from developers within the broader crypto community, including those focused on XRP. The update includes numerous helpful fixes and improvements, making the XRPL software more efficient and stable. Ripple CEO Brad Garlinghouse highlighted the significance of this release, describing it as a "huge progress" and congratulating all the developers who contributed to it. He noted that this update could potentially boost business adoption of the XRPL.

The new features in XRPL version 2.5.0 address several long-discussed amendments, such as enhancing token escrow, adding batch transactions, and introducing permissioned decentralized exchanges. These changes also include delegating specific permissions to other accounts and adding invariant checking to AMM-related transactions. Additionally, the update addresses issues related to NFT interactions and payment channel creation. Mayukha Vadari, a senior developer at RippleX, praised the release, calling it "possibly the best single lineup of amendments we’ve ever had in one release."

The primary feature of the update is the increased network input-output capacity, which allows the XRPL to handle higher transaction loads. Other notable features include enhanced transaction relay logic, the addition of XRPL commons as a new bootstrap cluster, improved transaction handling, and updated code reviewers for RPC changes. The update also includes bug fixes that address core errors, compatibility issues, and other problems related to delays and configuration. The upgrade will be completed once it receives support from more than 80% of validators and nodes. Voting on the proposed amendments has begun, and protocol changes will occur following two weeks of support from trusted validators.
