Ripple’s XRP is anticipated to reach unprecedented heights, according to a market prediction made by a prominent figure in the finance industry. The fourth-largest cryptocurrency by market cap is expected to surpass Ethereum in market valuation, currently holding the third position. This bold forecast is made by Geoffrey Kendrick, the Global Head of Digital Assets Research at Standard Chartered, who believes that XRP could claim this position over the next three years.

At present, Ethereum’s market cap is valued at $305.9 billion, while XRP’s market cap stands at $127 billion. For XRP to successfully overtake Ethereum, it must add more than $178.9 billion to its current market value. However, the cryptocurrency market is in a state of constant growth, and as such, XRP bulls will have to work harder as Ethereum’s valuation soars annually.

Kendrick’s prediction, while ambitious, is supported by several fundamental factors. Ripple’s recent legal victories against the SEC have bolstered the ecosystem's credibility and stability. Additionally, institutional adoption is on the rise, as evidenced by the recent launch of a highly anticipated XRP ETF and a 360% surge in XRP's market value over the last year. These developments indicate growing institutional interest in XRP.

Furthermore, Kendrick cited the notations of Brad Garlinghouse, the CEO of Ripple, who remarked that XRP will constitute 14% of SWIFT’s cross-border payment industry within the next five years. This declaration further validates XRP’s appeal to larger institutions within and outside the crypto space. Despite current market selloffs that have kept altcoins stagnant, including XRP, which is nursing a 3.40% loss at press time, Kendrick's prediction remains steadfast. The expert's analysis highlights the potential for XRP to achieve a market cap surge of $179 billion, positioning it to flip Ethereum by 2028.
