XRP News Today: XRP Community Warns Users to Avoid Horizon Platform Due to Security Risks

A new trading platform, Horizon, has recently launched, promising to revolutionize the XRPL (XRP Ledger) experience. However, its debut has sparked significant concern within the XRP community, with respected figures warning users about potential security risks.
Xrpl.to, a trusted XRPL token tracker, issued an urgent advisory cautioning XRP holders to avoid the Horizon platform. The advisory emphasized that anyone who has entered their seed phrase into the Horizon application should consider their wallet compromised and transfer their funds immediately to a secure wallet.
For users who generated new wallets within the Horizon platform, the recommendation is the same: transfer assets to wallets created with secure, proven tools outside of Horizon’s ecosystem. Seed phrases are crucial for crypto security, acting as the ultimate key to wallet access. Mishandling them can result in irreversible asset loss, especially with assets like XRP that do not support clawback features. Once funds are drained, there’s no recourse.
The gravity of the situation was further highlighted by respected XRPL validator Vet (@Vet_X0), who advised users to avoid importing existing seeds into any unverified application. Vet emphasized that creating entirely new wallets remains the safest course of action. The validator also underscored the importance of thorough research before engaging with new projects, noting that a few minutes of due diligence can save investors from catastrophic losses.
While some members of the XRP community have suggested that the Horizon concerns could be overstated, the clear guidance from both Xrpl.to and Vet leaves little room for doubt. Their message is clear: it’s better to be cautious and secure your holdings now than risk losing them later.
In the fast-moving world of cryptocurrencies, scams and poorly designed platforms remain a constant threat. History has repeatedly shown that cutting corners on security can have devastating consequences. For any XRP holder who has entered private keys or seed phrases into Horizon, the recommended move is immediate: create a new XRP account using a reputable wallet provider and transfer all funds. While inconvenient, this proactive step is far preferable to the devastating and permanent loss of assets that could occur if Horizon’s application proves malicious or fundamentally insecure.
