XRP News Today: SEC's October XRP ETF Deadline Could Spark $5–15B Inflows and Altcoin Surge

The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) is poised to make pivotal decisions on multiple XRP-based exchange-traded fund (ETF) applications by October 2025, sparking heightened interest in Ripple's native token. As of September 2025, nine major asset managers, including Grayscale, Bitwise, and WisdomTree, have submitted filings for XRPXRP-- ETFs, with final approval deadlines clustered between October 18 and October 25. The SEC's recent listing guidelines require at least six months of XRP futures trading on platforms like Coinbase Derivatives for ETF eligibility. Canada has already launched several XRP ETFs since June 2025, signaling international regulatory momentum.
The ProShares Ultra XRP ETF, the only currently approved U.S. product, employs leveraged and inverse strategies. However, spot XRP ETFs-such as Grayscale's $40 billion XRP Trust conversion and Franklin Templeton's $1.5 trillion AUM proposal-are expected to face critical decisions in October. Analysts at Bloomberg estimate a 95% probability of approval for at least one spot XRP ETF, which could catalyze a surge in institutional adoption. If approved, these funds would provide retail and institutional investors with regulated exposure to XRP, bypassing direct custody challenges.
Price forecasts for XRP hinge on regulatory outcomes. Current projections suggest a potential rise to $4 by year-end, representing a 77% gain from its mid-September price of $2.26. This optimism is fueled by the resolution of Ripple's long-standing SEC lawsuit, which solidified XRP's commodity classification. Additionally, Bitcoin's consolidation above $121,000 has bolstered broader crypto market sentiment, historically preceding altcoin rallies.
Market analysts highlight dual scenarios: a cluster of approvals in October could trigger $5–15 billion in inflows, driving XRP's price higher through increased demand and reduced liquidity. Conversely, delays or denials might extend XRP's reliance on futures-based products, which face tracking errors and roll costs. Franklin Templeton's $1.5 trillion AUM proposal, pending a November 14 decision, could act as a "kingmaker" for XRP's mainstream acceptance.
Risks remain, including regulatory shifts and macroeconomic volatility. The SEC's delayed decisions-such as the extended review for Rex-Osprey's XRP ETF-underscore procedural uncertainties. Moreover, while spot ETFs mitigate some risks of futures products, XRP's inherent volatility and liquidity challenges persist.
The approval of XRP ETFs would also set a precedent for other altcoins, potentially accelerating applications for SolanaSOL--, LitecoinLTC--, and DogecoinDOGE-- ETFs in 2026. European XRP ETFs, such as 21Shares AXRP ETP and Valour XRP ETP, have already demonstrated 40–60% liquidity boosts post-launch, offering a blueprint for U.S. adoption.
