XRP News Today: SEC Likely to Approve Spot ETFs for Solana, Litecoin, XRP in 2025

Analysts James Seyffart and Eric Balchunas have revised their prediction, indicating a 95% probability that the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) will approve spot ETFs for Solana (SOL), Litecoin (LTC), and XRP in 2025. This updated forecast was shared on June 20, 2025, and reflects a notable shift in the regulatory outlook for cryptocurrencies.

The analysts' optimism stems from the increased engagement from the SEC, which they interpret as a very positive development. The SEC has acknowledged the 19b-4 forms for these applications, suggesting that the underlying altcoins are likely viewed as commodities. This perspective is further bolstered by the existence of Commodity Futures Trading Commission-regulated futures markets for many of these assets.

Beyond SOL, LTC, and XRP, other crypto ETF filings, including those for Dogecoin, Cardano, Avalanche, Hedera, and Polkadot, also have high chances of approval in 2025, with a 90% probability. Additionally, crypto basket or index ETF filings by Grayscale, Hashdex, Bitwise, and Franklin Templeton have a 95% probability of approval within the next six months. Many of these applications are approaching their final SEC deadlines in early July.

The timing of these approvals remains uncertain, with analysts suggesting that they could arrive within weeks or closer to final deadlines later this year. Most applications have their final SEC decision dates in October and November. Despite this uncertainty, the ETF experts believe it’s a “matter of when, not if” for these approvals.

The analysts' forecast is grounded in the SEC's positive engagement and the regulatory framework that already exists for many of these assets. This increased likelihood of approval is expected to have a significant impact on the cryptocurrency market, potentially leading to greater institutional investment and mainstream adoption.
