Ripple executives have taken center stage in promoting the Gemini
Credit Card, a financial product designed to reward users with up to 4% cashback in XRP on everyday purchases. The card, issued by WebBank and co-developed with Gemini, represents a strategic step in merging traditional finance with blockchain-based incentives. Ripple CEO Brad Garlinghouse and Gemini CEO Tyler Winklevoss have both publicly endorsed the initiative, with Winklevoss humorously suggesting Garlinghouse would receive "the whale limit" on the card, implying a high spending threshold tied to XRP [2].Garlinghouse showcased the card on social media, expressing his enthusiasm and calling it a "notable moment" for the XRP community. The collaboration between Ripple and Gemini reflects a broader trend of institutional interest in cryptocurrency rewards programs. While some critics remain skeptical about the long-term impact of the card, the partnership strengthens the visibility of XRP and its potential use in daily transactions. Gemini recently expanded access to Ripple’s RLUSD stablecoin and included XRP as collateral for derivatives trading, further solidifying the relationship between the two firms [1].
The card’s launch was set for August 25, 2025, and early promotional efforts included a New York billboard teasing the release.
