Gemini has launched the
Edition of its Gemini Credit Card in the U.S., marking a significant step in bridging traditional finance with cryptocurrency. The card, issued by WebBank and built on Mastercard’s network, allows users to earn cashback in XRP, with rewards ranging from 1% to 4% depending on the category of purchase. For example, users can earn up to 4% cashback on fuel, EV charging, and rideshare expenses, 3% on dining, and 2% on groceries [3]. The card is designed to appeal specifically to XRP holders, featuring a premium metal design and exclusive marketing elements that reflect the growing XRP community [4].The launch is part of a broader collaboration between Gemini, Ripple, and WebBank, and represents the first product under a $75 million credit facility arranged between Gemini and Ripple [3]. The card offers up to 4% cashback in XRP, incentivizing users to spend and earn in the cryptocurrency. Tyler Winklevoss, CEO of Gemini, highlighted that the product gives customers and the “XRP Army” new ways to earn XRP and express their loyalty and enthusiasm for the asset [3].
The initiative also includes the integration of Ripple’s RLUSD stablecoin, a $680 million U.S. dollar-pegged stablecoin, into Gemini’s trading platform. U.S. users can now use RLUSD as a base currency for all spot trading pairs, enabling seamless transitions between RLUSD and other assets without the need for additional conversions [3]. This move enhances the utility of RLUSD and supports Gemini’s broader efforts to expand the use cases of stablecoins.
Ripple CEO Brad Garlinghouse described the partnership as a strategic effort to drive mainstream adoption of both XRP and RLUSD. He noted that with 55 million Americans now owning cryptocurrency, everyday spending is becoming a viable channel for engaging with digital assets [3]. Gemini’s product aligns with its strategic goals, including preparations for a U.S. public listing and the expansion of services such as tokenized U.S. stock trading and a MiCA license in Malta [3].
The XRP Edition Credit Card is available exclusively to U.S. residents and reflects Gemini’s commitment to integrating crypto into daily financial activities. The product builds on Gemini’s existing consumer-focused offerings and leverages partnerships with major
to provide a seamless user experience. By offering rewards in XRP, the card aims to increase the cryptocurrency’s utility and acceptance in real-world transactions, potentially boosting both transactional activity and market demand.Analysts have suggested that the card could enhance XRP adoption, though no formal forecasts have been provided. The product’s long-term impact will depend on its integration into everyday spending habits and how effectively it appeals to the XRP community [3]. The move also signals a broader trend of crypto platforms expanding their product suites to include consumer-facing tools, thereby increasing engagement with digital assets.
The XRP Edition Credit Card is now available for U.S. users to apply, marking a new chapter in the integration of XRP into mainstream financial tools.
