The crypto market continues to evolve with distinct narratives emerging between payment-focused coins and real-world application (RWA) projects. Two tokens currently generating traction are Ripple’s
and Avalon X (AVLX), each representing different facets of blockchain utility. As XRP navigates regulatory uncertainties, Avalon X is carving out a path in real estate tokenization, offering tangible use cases that could reshape the sector.XRP, the native token of the Ripple network, has faced a prolonged legal battle with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), which concluded in August 2025 with a mixed ruling. The decision, delivered by Judge Analisa Torres, stated that XRP sold on exchanges does not qualify as a security, while some institutional sales do. Ripple’s legal team and key supporters, including the “XRP Army,” a community of token holders, were credited with influencing the outcome. The XRP Army provided critical research and analysis to Ripple’s defense, which included speeches and comments by government officials related to blockchain and crypto. Ripple’s deputy general counsel, Deborah McCrimmon, emphasized the value of this unpaid effort, noting it could have cost legal teams significant sums otherwise [1].
The XRP token’s price has mirrored the legal drama, with sharp swings in value. After the July 2023 ruling, XRP surged 72%, reaching $0.81, and later touched an all-time high of $3.65 before settling around $2.85 in early September 2025. The token has experienced a nearly 1% drop in the past 24 hours, reflecting ongoing uncertainty in the regulatory landscape [1].
In contrast, Avalon X (AVLX) presents a different use case by integrating blockchain with real estate. The token is part of a real-estate-backed RWA presale project, offering investors access to a $379 trillion global real estate market through tokenization. Avalon X is supported by Grupo Avalon, a Dominican Republic-based construction company with a $1 billion project pipeline, providing a tangible asset backing for the token. The project’s tokenomics include a fixed supply of 2 billion tokens and a deflationary mechanism to drive scarcity [2].
Avalon X also introduces consumer perks for token holders, such as discounted luxury stays, reservation prioritization, and future real estate opportunities. These features, combined with CertiK-audited smart contracts and a $1 million crypto giveaway campaign, have driven adoption and community engagement. The project’s token price in Stage 1 is set at $0.005, making it accessible for retail investors [2].
The contrast between XRP and Avalon X highlights a broader industry trend: while XRP remains entangled in regulatory debates, Avalon X is building a real-world utility model that aligns with the growing demand for tangible crypto assets. The latter’s ability to tokenize real estate and provide investor access to traditionally illiquid markets may position it as a key player in the RWA space. Meanwhile, XRP’s future will likely depend on the resolution of regulatory ambiguities and the broader adoption of its payment network.
Both tokens reflect the maturing of the crypto market, where use cases and regulatory compliance are becoming central to value creation. As 2025 progresses, investors will likely weigh factors such as token utility, asset backing, and regulatory clarity when allocating capital between projects like XRP and Avalon X.
