XRobotics' xPizza Cube Saves Pizzerias 70% Time, 25,000 Pizzas Monthly

XRobotics, a robotics company based in San Francisco, has developed a tabletop robot named xPizza Cube that is designed to revolutionize the pizza-making process in pizzerias. The robot, roughly the size of a stackable washing machine, uses machine learning to spread sauce, sprinkle cheese, and place toppings on pizza dough. The device can be leased for three years at a monthly rental fee of 1,300 dollars and can produce up to 100 pizzas per hour. It is also adaptable to different sizes and styles of pizzas, including Detroit and Chicago deep-dish pizzas.
According to XRobotics co-founder and CEO Denis Rodionov, the xPizza Cube can save employees nearly 70% to 80% of their time, as it handles repetitive tasks such as placing slices of Italian sausage on a pizza. This efficiency allows pizzerias to focus on other aspects of their business, improving overall productivity and customer satisfaction.
XRobotics is not the only company attempting to integrate robotics into the food service industry, nor is it the only one focusing on pizzas. However, XRobotics has distinguished itself by not trying to completely overhaul the pizza-making process, as other companies like Zume have attempted. Instead, XRobotics aims to develop technology that assists existing pizza makers in saving time and labor. This approach has allowed XRobotics to keep the size of its device manageable for existing kitchens and to price it affordably for both small, family-owned pizzerias and large chain brands.
XRobotics was founded in 2019 and launched its first-generation technology in 2021. The initial robot was much larger and could handle over 20 different toppings, but it faced similar challenges to its competitors. The company learned from these trials and decided to develop a more compact solution. The current model, launched in 2023, has been successful, producing 25,000 pizzas per month. The company declined to disclose the number of customers but emphasized the widespread adoption of its technology.
Recently, XRobotics completed a 2.5 million dollars seed round of funding, led by FinSight Ventures, with participation from SOSV, MANA Ventures, and Republic Capital. The funds will be used to produce more devices and install them for additional customers. The company plans to focus on the pizza industry for the foreseeable future, given the large market size in the United States, with over 73,000 pizza chain stores. Future expansion plans include entering the markets of Mexico and Canada.
Ask Aime: How will XRobotics' xPizza Cube impact the pizza industry?
Rodionov and his co-founder are passionate about pizza, having tried many varieties in San Francisco, New York, and Chicago. Their favorite style is the square-shaped Detroit pizza with its crispy cheese crust. This personal enthusiasm for pizza drives their commitment to improving the pizza-making process through innovative robotics technology.
