Microsoft has revealed the August 2025 Xbox Game Pass Wave 1 lineup, including Assassin's Creed Mirage, Aliens: Fireteam Elite, and Citizen Sleeper 2. Rain World is now part of Game Pass Ultimate, PC Game Pass, and Game Pass Standard. Other additions include Citizen Sleeper 2: Starward Vector, Lonely Mountains: Snow Riders, MechWarrior 5: Clans, and Orcs Must Die! Deathtrap. Assassin's Creed Mirage and Aliens: Fireteam Elite will be available on August 7 and 12, respectively.
Microsoft has revealed the August 2025 Xbox Game Pass Wave 1 lineup, which includes several highly anticipated titles. The announcement was made on Xbox Wire and includes a mix of new releases and returning fan favorites.
The lineup features several notable additions. Assassin's Creed Mirage, a smaller, Baghdad-based entry in the Assassin's Creed franchise, will be available on August 7 for Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass subscribers [1]. This game stars street thief Basim and returns the franchise to its city-set roots.
Another significant addition is Aliens: Fireteam Elite, which will be available on August 12 for all Game Pass members, including those on Ultimate, PC Game Pass, and Standard tiers [1]. This game is well-timed, as it coincides with the debut of the new series Alien: Earth, which launches on FX and Hulu.
Other titles set to join the Game Pass library include Rain World, a cute-looking indie adventure where you play as a nomadic slugcat, which looks less terrifying than you'd think. It will be available on August 5 for Game Pass Ultimate, PC Game Pass, and Game Pass Standard [1].
Citizen Sleeper 2: Starward Vector, a dice-based RPG, will be available on August 6 for Game Pass Standard subscribers [1]. The game also includes wintry downhill racer Lonely Mountains: Snow Riders, MechWarrior 5: Clans, and Orcs Must Die! Deathtrap, all for Xbox Series X/S.
The lineup also includes a Game Preview build of 9 Kings, a roguelike kingdom builder, which will be available on PC via PC Game Pass on August 14 [1].
As Microsoft giveth, so it taketh away. Several titles are set to leave Game Pass this month, including Anthem, Farming Simulator 22, and Persona 3 Reload. Members can get a 20% discount to keep these games in their library [1].
The addition of these titles to the Xbox Game Pass library is expected to enhance the service's value proposition, attracting more subscribers and potentially increasing revenue for Microsoft. However, the company will need to carefully manage the balance between adding new titles and removing older ones to maintain subscriber satisfaction.
