At a recent candlelight dinner this past Saturday, guests were invited to pay $1 million to secure a seat, according to an invitation obtained by WIRED. The invitation, sent under the "MAGA Inc." banner, read:"You are invited to a candlelight dinner featuring special guest President Donald J. Trump."

MAGA Inc., short for Make America Great Again Inc., is associated with Trump's political operations.

Trump's Private Meetings: A Hot Ticket for Business Leaders

The invitation clarifies that Trump is attending solely as a guest speaker and is not soliciting direct donations. However, sources describe the $5 million private meetings as a highly sought-after opportunity among business elites.

What remains unclear is where the money is going and how it will be used. A source familiar with the event claimed that "all funds will go toward the library"—a reference to Trump's proposed presidential library, which he has yet to build after leaving office.

Experts Raise Concerns Over Ethics and Influence

While sitting presidents in their second term have historically held fundraising events for their political parties, experts say the timing, venue, and high price tag of Trump's Mar-a-Lago gatherings are unprecedented.

"I can't recall a sitting president, within weeks of taking office, soliciting millions in fundraising," said Don Moynihan, a professor of public policy at the University of Michigan."The concern is less about fundraising and more about access and influence ... People hoping for favorable treatment see it in their interest to donate to Trump."

Moynihan also highlighted the lack of ethical safeguards in the Trump administration, where the boundaries between Trump's business empire and the presidency appear increasingly blurred.
