The invitation clarifies that Trump is attending solely as a guest speaker and is not soliciting direct donations. However, sources describe the $5 million private meetings as a highly sought-after opportunity among business elites.
What remains unclear is where the money is going and how it will be used. A source familiar with the event claimed that "all funds will go toward the library"—a reference to Trump's proposed presidential library, which he has yet to build after leaving office.
Experts Raise Concerns Over Ethics and Influence
While sitting presidents in their second term have historically held fundraising events for their political parties, experts say the timing, venue, and high price tag of Trump's Mar-a-Lago gatherings are unprecedented.
