"World Mobile & DITO CME Team Up to Bridge Philippines' Digital Divide with Blockchain"

World Mobile, a blockchain-powered mobile network operator, has partnered with DITO CME, the holding company of DITO Telecom, to expand internet access to millions of Filipinos. The collaboration aims to enhance mobile and broadband connectivity, particularly in underserved rural areas, by leveraging World Mobile's decentralized physical infrastructure network technology and DITO CME's network of operators.

The partnership, announced on February 5, 2025, comes amid renewed efforts to drive crypto and blockchain adoption in the Philippines. As part of the strategic alliance, the companies will integrate World Mobile's decentralized physical infrastructure network technology with DITO CME's network of operators to improve overall network reach and drive innovation in digital finance.

Micky Watkins, CEO of World Mobile Group, commented on the partnership: "This collaboration with DITO CME represents a significant milestone in our mission to democratize access to connectivity across the globe. By leveraging blockchain technology and a decentralized sharing economy model, we can empower communities and provide connectivity solutions that ensure no one is left behind."

The partnership also introduces DTaka, a blockchain-based e-wallet integrated into the DITO CME ecosystem. DTaka uses a dual-token model: a stablecoin to facilitate remittances and mobile money transfers, and a utility token for gamification and loyalty rewards. Rollout of the new features, including the DTaka wallet, is set to begin in 2025 within the Philippines, with plans to expand these capabilities across the World Mobile Chain and the DTaka app in the coming months.

The integration of World Mobile's DePIN technology and Starlink-powered AirNodes will enhance coverage, particularly in rural communities. This focus on expanding blockchain-powered connectivity to underserved areas is a key aspect of the World Mobile and DITO CME partnership.
