Whitestone REIT refinanced nine Houston properties, obtaining $13 million in proceeds to pay off higher-cost debt maturing in 2014. The company lowered its overall cost of capital by securing a $37 million loan with a fixed rate of 3.76% and a 7-year term. Loan proceeds will be used to pay off existing debt maturing in 2013 and 2014.
