Warner Bros. has announced a new film, "The Lord of the Rings: Shadows of the Past," set in the world of Tolkien's classic novel. The film, developed by Stephen Colbert and his son Peter McGee, will follow Sam, Merry, and Pippin as they revisit early stages of their journey and uncover a hidden aspect of the War of the Ring. Colbert, a longtime Tolkien fan, worked with screenwriter Philippa Boyens to develop the concept.
