The recent Destination D23 event in Orlando, Florida, provided a platform for
Studios to reveal a host of exciting new projects across its various divisions, including Marvel Studios, Pixar, Walt Animation, and Disney+. Attendees were granted a glimpse into the future slate of films and series that Disney plans to deliver to cinemas and home screens over the coming years.One of the significant highlights included updates from the Marvel Cinematic Universe, with filmmakers Joe and Anthony Russo sharing from the set of "Avengers: Doomsday." The filming of this anticipated blockbuster is officially underway, promising to bring significant developments to the MCU.
Pixar Animation Studios also shared substantial updates on its upcoming movie pipeline. Notably, "Toy Story 5" will arrive in theaters on June 19, 2026. This installment will introduce new characters, such as an antagonistic frog-themed iPad named Lilypad. Comedian Conan O’Brien joins the voice cast, bringing to life a new character, Smarty Pants. Additionally, Pixar is celebrating the 30th anniversary of the original "Toy Story" film with a special re-release in theaters starting September 12, 2025.
Further expanding Pixar's offerings, it previewed "Hoppers," a fresh original comedy featuring a college student and her robotic beaver, scheduled for a March 6, 2026 release. Pixar is also in the early stages of developing "Incredibles 3," part of their ambitious 2028 and beyond lineup.
In terms of other sequels, Walt Disney Animation Studios provided new insights into "Zootopia 2," set for release on November 26, 2025. The sequel will introduce new characters and voice talent, including Patrick Warburton and Yvette Nicole Brown. Fans can expect Judy Hopps and Nick Wilde to embark on a suspenseful new adventure.
Moreover, "Hexed," a new original feature from Walt Disney Animation, is poised for a debut in November 2026. The film narrates the tale of a teenage boy discovering his magical abilities with his perfectionist mother, leading them to a hidden magical world.
The "TRON" series is set to expand with "TRON:
," expected to arrive on October 10, 2025. This film boasts a score by the renowned band Nine Inch Nails and will temporarily influence the Lightcycle Run rides in Florida and Shanghai. Furthermore, Disney has remastered the original "TRON" films in 4K Ultra HD, releasing them on September 16, 2025.The Disney+ platform is also continuing to build its content offerings with “Diary of a Wimpy Kid: The Last Straw,” set to premiere on December 5. This animated film, based on Jeff Kinney's popular book series, follows the comedic struggles of Greg Heffley and features actors such as Aaron D. Harris and Chris Diamantopoulos.
As Disney looks to future expansion, the head of D23, Michael Vargo, confirmed that the next “D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event” is scheduled for August 14-16, 2026, in Anaheim, California. Promising even more immersive experiences and first-look showcases, the event is set to deliver on the creative and innovative storytelling for which Disney is known. Jodi Benson will serve as the first official D23 FAN-bassador, engaging with fans ahead of the 2026 event.
