Walmart held 15 million shares of Symbiotic and 975,000 shares of Green Dot through Q2, with no changes from the previous quarter. These stakes were disclosed in a filing.

Walmart (NYSE: WMT) has disclosed that it held 15 million shares of Symbiotic Inc. (NASDAQ: SYM) and 975,000 shares of Green Dot Corporation (NYSE: GDOT) at the end of the second quarter. These positions were unchanged from the holdings at the end of the first quarter, as reported in a recent filing [1].

The acquisition of Walmart's Advanced Systems and Robotics business by Symbiotic earlier this year was valued at $200 million in cash, with potential future contingent payments up to $350 million depending on performance and order volume. As part of this deal, Walmart committed to a $520 million investment in Symbiotic's development program aimed at funding new fulfillment solutions for online pickup and delivery [1].

Walmart also received approximately 2.2 million Green Dot shares in May 2010 as part of a commercial agreement extension. The market value of Walmart's Symbiotic position was $582.8 million at the end of Q2, while the Green Dot position was valued at $10.51 million [1].

Shares of Symbiotic have seen a significant increase, rising by 135% year-to-date, while Green Dot shares have declined by 9.4% over the same period [1].
