Walmart, Home Depot Open on Labor Day; is target open on labor day?

Grocery store chains will predominantly remain open, although hours may vary by location. Trader Joe’s and stores under the Kroger umbrella, such as Kroger, Pick 'n Save, and Harris Teeter, will maintain their usual operating hours, providing consumers with access to their regular shopping needs. Whole Foods locations will also generally be open, but it’s advisable for customers to verify the hours specific to their local store. Costco, however, will be an exception, as its warehouses will be closed in observance of the holiday.

Pharmacy accessibility will vary, with Walgreens maintaining regular store hours but closing most pharmacy counters, except for 24-hour and select locations. CVS is set to keep both its stores and pharmacies open, although some may observe modified hours that customers need to check in advance.

Postal and delivery services will largely pause operations for the day, with the United States Postal Service ceasing both pick-up and delivery. UPS services will be similarly suspended, although UPS Express Critical will remain operational to accommodate urgent deliveries. FedEx will largely halt its services as well, with FedEx Office locations operating on modified schedules and its Custom Critical service remaining open.

In the financial and government sectors, closures will be widespread due to the federal nature of the holiday. Most banks will be closed, though online banking services and ATMs will still be accessible. The New York Stock Exchange and Nasdaq will also not open, halting all trading activities for the day. Additionally, government offices at city, state, and federal levels, including DMV offices and public libraries, will not be operational, honoring the contributions of the American workforce to the economy.
