WalletConnect Adds Ten New Wallets to Certified Program

WalletConnect Certified, a program that recognizes crypto wallets for their exceptional user experience, top-tier security, and technical excellence, has expanded its roster with the addition of ten new wallets. The newly certified wallets include CTRL, Bifrost, Fireblocks, xPortal, Best, Arculus Wallet, Rakuten, BitPay, Blockchain.com, and Bitcoin.com. These additions join an esteemed list of industry leaders such as Binance Web3 Wallet, MetaMask, SafePal, Uniswap, 1inch, and Ledger, all of which have already earned the WalletConnect Certified status.

The WalletConnect Certified program is a community-driven initiative that awards a badge to products meeting WalletConnect’s stringent standards for quality and performance. The goal is to assist users in making informed decisions when exploring self-custodial solutions. To qualify, wallets must be among the top 50 providers based on usage or reach and offer integrations with major cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin, Ethereum, and Solana. Certified wallets are featured with a gold badge in WalletConnect’s WalletGuide, a comprehensive resource for builders and users to discover wallets adhering to the latest on-chain user experience standards and innovations.

Pedro Gomes, the founder and director of the WalletConnect Foundation, emphasized the importance of the program in creating shared expectations for a great wallet experience. He noted that poor on-chain user experiences have historically been a significant barrier to adoption, but the certification program is addressing this issue. Gomes stated, "It’s about creating shared expectations for what a great wallet experience looks like: secure, seamless, and intuitive." As the number of chains, users, and use cases continues to grow, the WalletConnect Certified program aims to scale trust, consistency, and usability together.

Trust Wallet, one of the first to earn Certified status, highlighted the critical role of improving usability in bringing crypto to a broader audience. Eowyn Chen, the CEO of Trust Wallet, said, "Improving usability is mission critical for bringing crypto to the next billion users." Setting shared standards for usability and safety raises the bar for everyone and ensures that self-custody remains accessible, secure, and intuitive. Idan Ofrat, co-founder and chief product officer of Fireblocks, also praised the program, stating that it brings much-needed clarity to what strong on-chain user experience should look like, which is invaluable for developers.

The program is now inviting more crypto wallets to apply for WalletConnect Certified status. The organizers emphasized the importance of collaboration and shared learning in improving usability and onboarding the next wave of users. This expansion of the WalletConnect Certified program is a significant step towards enhancing the overall user experience in the crypto wallet ecosystem, ensuring that users have access to secure, seamless, and intuitive solutions.
