Wall Street Bets Big on Untether: Revolutionizing AI Chips for Real-World Applications

Word on the StreetTuesday, Oct 29, 2024 8:00 am ET
1min read

In recent news, the AI venture Untether has garnered significant attention by attracting investments from notable figures on Wall Street. This Canada-based startup is making waves with its new artificial intelligence chip, designed specifically for use in harsh environments such as automobiles and agricultural machinery. Unlike AI chips from industry giants like Nvidia and AMD, which are intended for large data centers requiring substantial energy, Untether’s chips focus on efficiently running AI applications post-development.

Bob Beachler, Untether's Vice President of Products, highlighted that the market for chips dedicated solely to AI inference—running applications rather than training them—is set to surpass the training chip market significantly by 2027. Predictions suggest the inference chip market could expand to $102 billion by that year, underlining its growing importance in the AI landscape.

This development underscores a strategic shift in the AI industry, with a growing emphasis on efficient application deployment beyond traditional training environments. The entry of significant Wall Street investors into Untether suggests confidence in the company's potential to disrupt the market and offer scalable solutions for AI-driven applications outside of conventional data centers.

$NVDA @AlphaRR We’ve got a bet going on, right? We’re heading to Costco later. Need to know if I can expect a bottle of blue in the mail or not. Haha, I need something to celebrate hitting $150 this week!

$NVDA anticipates a weak market due to several factors. First, the buyback window has closed until after earnings, which is crucial. Second, the stock is overvalued, with a fair value of 105, according to Morningstar, slightly lower by my estimation. Lastly, given the election volatility, I anticipate short rallies, and I am currently short 30,000 shares.
