Volkswagen Unveils Three New Electric Vehicle Concepts at Shanghai Auto Show

Volkswagen unveiled three new EV concepts at the 2025 Shanghai Auto Show: ID ERA, a three-row electric SUV with up to 300 km range; ID EVO, a sporty SUV with 800V architecture and fast charging; and ID AURA, a compact electric sedan with sleek design and standard lights. These models showcase Volkswagen's "In China, for China" approach, focusing on local design and innovation. The company plans to launch 30 new models in China by 2027, including 20 New Energy Vehicles.

Volkswagen has unveiled three new electric vehicle (EV) concepts at the 2025 Shanghai Auto Show, highlighting the company's commitment to the Chinese market and its "In China, for China" strategy. The new models include the ID. Era, ID. Evo, and ID. Aura, which showcase Volkswagen's focus on local design and innovation.

The ID. Era is a spacious three-row electric SUV with a combined range of up to 621 miles, including a range extender for the battery. The ID. Evo, targeted at younger, style-conscious buyers, is a sporty SUV based on an 800-volt platform with fast charging capabilities. The ID. Aura is a compact electric sedan designed for the price-conscious A-segment, featuring a sleek design and standard lights.

All three concepts are equipped with AI-based systems for advanced automated driving, aiming to reach Level 2+ operation by 2026. This means the vehicles can drive hands-free in certain situations, with the ability to overtake, turn, and enter traffic independently, but drivers must remain watchful and ready to take control.

Volkswagen plans to launch over 30 new models in China by the end of 2027, including 20 New Energy Vehicles (NEVs). The company aims to maintain its position as a leader in the Chinese market by focusing on local needs and technological advancements.
