Australians have suffered from severe health issues, including migraines and nerve damage, after taking over-the-counter vitamins. Investigations have revealed that Blackmores supplements contain high levels of vitamin B6, which can be toxic in large doses. The TGA is considering changes to require supplements with greater than 50mg of vitamin B6 to be stored behind the counter, but these changes won't take effect until 2027. Some experts warn that the current regulations are inadequate and that more stringent regulations are needed to protect consumers.
