Vietnam sets dong daily reference rate at 25.240 per dollar
The State Bank of Vietnam has set the daily reference rate for the Vietnamese dong (VND) at 25,240 per US dollar (USD) for August 29, 2025. This rate was determined by the central bank, which allows dollar/dong transactions to fluctuate within a band of +/- 5% around the mid-point [1].The official mid-point rate was USDVND 25,240, while the interbank offered rates ranged from USDVND 26,320 to 26,370. The unofficial exchange rate, as quoted by the VNDUNOFF=VN indicator, stood at USDVND 26,685 to 26,755. These rates reflect the latest indicative bid/ask prices from market sources.
In addition to currency rates, the article provides information on the indicative gold prices. The gold prices quoted by the state-owned Saigon Jewelry Co. (SJC) in Hanoi were 127.4 million dong per tael and 128.9 million dong per tael, respectively, on August 29, 2025 [1].
The dong's exchange rate against other currencies is not restricted by a band, unlike the mid-point rate which allows for a 5% fluctuation. This flexibility provides investors with a range of options for currency transactions while maintaining a stable reference rate for daily operations.
