Verizon Foundation's $2 Million Donation: Maximizing Relief and Recovery for Hurricane Helene and Milton

The Verizon Foundation has stepped up to support communities devastated by Hurricane Helene and Hurricane Milton, donating a total of $2 million to aid relief and recovery efforts. This significant contribution is allocated to provide essential support and rebuilding efforts to those affected by the storms. The donations include $1 million to the American Red Cross and the remaining $1 million to various regional organizations in Florida and Georgia/North Carolina.


The $1 million donation to the American Red Cross will assist with emergency relief and recovery efforts for both Hurricane Helene and Hurricane Milton. The Red Cross will use these funds to provide immediate assistance, including food, shelter, and comfort to thousands of people affected by the storms. Additionally, the Red Cross will deploy emergency response vehicles and open or support hundreds of shelters for those who have evacuated their homes.

The remaining $1 million will be directed to regional organizations providing crucial services on the ground in the hardest-hit areas. In Florida, $400,000 will be allocated to organizations supporting Hurricane Milton relief, while $600,000 will be dedicated to aiding communities in Georgia and North Carolina affected by Hurricane Helene.


In Florida, the Verizon Foundation will support Volunteer Florida with a $400,000 donation to assist organizations providing food, shelter, and recovery resources to those affected by Hurricane Milton. Additionally, the foundation will contribute $600,000 to support communities in Georgia and North Carolina affected by Hurricane Helene. This includes $300,000 to the NC Hurricane Helene Fund–United Way of North Carolina, $50,000 to Second Harvest of South Georgia, Inc., $50,000 to United Way of Greater Valdosta, Georgia, $100,000 to Community Foundation for the CSRA, Augusta, Georgia, and $100,000 to the Weathered But Strong Fund–Georgia Foundation for Agriculture.
