VanEck Launches First Tokenized Fund, VBILL, on Multiple Blockchains

VanEck, a prominent global investment firm, has announced the launch of its first tokenized fund, the VanEck Treasury Fund (VBILL), in collaboration with Securitize, a leading real-world asset platform with nearly $4 billion in tokenized securities under management. This partnership marks a significant milestone in the integration of digital assets into mainstream financial markets.
VBILL is designed to be accessible across multiple layer-1 blockchains, including Avalanche (AVAX), BNB Chain (BNB), Ethereum (ETH), and Solana (SOL). This multi-chain approach ensures that investors have a wide range of options for accessing the fund, leveraging the unique benefits of each blockchain.
Carlos Domingo, Co-Founder and CEO of Securitize, expressed pride in the collaboration, highlighting the synergy between Securitize's fully integrated tokenization model and VanEck's expertise in asset management. He emphasized that VBILL demonstrates the potential of tokenization to create new market opportunities with the speed, transparency, and programmability of blockchain technology.
VBILL utilizes Securitize's comprehensive suite of services, including tokenization, fund administration, transfer agency, and broker-dealer services. This ensures that the fund operates efficiently and securely, providing investors with a reliable tool for cash management.
Kyle DaCruz, Director of Digital Assets Product at VanEck, noted that by bringing U.S. Treasuries on-chain, VBILL offers investors a secure, transparent, and liquid instrument for managing their cash. He also underscored the role of tokenized funds like VBILL in enhancing market liquidity and efficiency, aligning with VanEck's commitment to delivering value to its investors.
This development comes on the heels of the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) approving a new, crypto-related "Onchain Economy exchange-traded fund (ETF)" from VanEck last month. This approval further validates the growing acceptance of digital assets in traditional financial markets and sets the stage for more innovative financial products.
