User Recovers 80% of 7912 ezETH Tokens After 9-Month Lock, Loses 50% Value

In a recent development, a user identified as 2024.qklpj.eth successfully retrieved funds that were mistakenly sent to a contract address. The user had previously transferred 7912 ezETH tokens to a contract address, which were locked and unable to be withdrawn. The project team redeployed the ETH, allowing the user to recover a significant portion of the funds.

The user negotiated with the project team to pay a 20% fee for the retrieval process. As a result, 80% of the 7912 ezETH tokens, amounting to 6329 tokens, were returned to 2024.qklpj.eth. Additionally, 10% of the tokens, totaling 791 tokens, were transferred to the Renzo DAO Treasury, and another 10% were transferred to the 0xC5e multi-signature address.

The batch of ETH, which was mistakenly transferred 9 months ago, was valued at $27.96 million at the time of the transfer. However, due to the loss incurred during the retrieval process, the current value of the recovered funds is $12.39 million, resulting in a loss of over 50% of the asset value.

Earlier reports indicated that on June 19, 2024, the address 2024.qklpj.eth mistakenly transferred 7912 ezETH tokens to a relay contract address. This error caused the funds to be locked and unable to be withdrawn. The address then transferred 5477 ezETH to the multi-signature address 0x5E6...A1c19, likely in an attempt to quickly secure a redemption quota through a smart contract. This portion of the funds has been successfully withdrawn in separate transactions.

Surprisingly, some funds were sent directly to the relay contract 0xe9a...696C4, which is a non-transferable and non-upgradeable contract. This contract, labeled as CoboSafeAccount by Arkham, further complicated the retrieval process. Despite these challenges, the project team's redeployment efforts allowed the user to recover a substantial portion of the funds, albeit at a significant financial loss.
