Unitree Robotics starts pre-listing tutoring
Intel has announced the spin-off of its artificial intelligence-powered robotics and biometric division into a standalone business, RealSense. The move comes as tech companies continue to invest heavily in automation. RealSense officially launched on Friday alongside a $50 million Series A funding round, led by MediaTek Innovation Fund and Intel Capital [1].The new entity, RealSense, will focus on humanoid robotics, which are robots that resemble the human form. The capital raised will help the company respond to increased demand in this sector. Nadav Orbach, who heads Intel’s innovation unit and will transition to CEO of RealSense, stated that the spin-off will allow the company to move faster and innovate more boldly to adapt to rapidly changing market dynamics [1].
RealSense was originally created to explore 3D vision and released its first commercial product in 2015. Today, it employs around 130 people across offices in the U.S., Israel, and China. The company's technology is used by other firms such as Eyesynth and Unitree Robotics to power autonomous machines [1].
The global humanoid robot market was valued at around $2.4 billion in 2023 and is projected to grow to $66 billion by 2032, a 45% increase, according to Fortune Business Insights [1].
Intel has been undergoing restructuring after a challenging year, with CEO Pat Gelsinger stepping down and plans to reduce its workforce by 20% this year [1].
