UnitedHealth Group has agreed to sell its South American unit, Banmedica, to Brazilian private equity firm Patria Investments for approximately $1 billion. The deal aims to exit the Latin American market, where the company has been operating for over a decade. Banmedica provides health insurance and medical services in Chile, Colombia, Peru, and Ecuador. The sale is expected to strengthen UnitedHealth's focus on its core US operations.
