Consumer goods giant Unilever plc (UL,ULVR.L) has announced its acquisition of men's personal care brand Dr. Squatch from growth equity firm Summit Partners. The deal aims to expand Unilever's global reach and strengthen its position in the personal care market. Financial terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.
Dr. Squatch, founded in 2013 by Jack Haldrup in San Diego, specializes in natural grooming products for men. The brand is known for its unique scents and quality ingredients, offering a range of products including natural soaps and body washes, deodorants, hair care, skin care, and other men’s grooming products. Dr. Squatch is distributed through digital commerce, retail, and direct-to-consumer channels, primarily in North America and Europe.
The acquisition marks another step in Unilever's strategy to expand its portfolio towards premium and high-growth spaces. The company aims to scale the brand internationally and complement its existing offering in the fast-growing men’s personal care segment. Dr. Squatch has already reached millions of people through its retail and direct-to-consumer model, and the acquisition will allow it to further innovate and expand its reach.
The transaction is expected to close later this year, subject to customary regulatory approvals and closing conditions.
