UNESCO has removed three African heritage sites - Rainforests of the Atsinanana in Madagascar, Abu Mena in Egypt, and Old Town of Ghadams in Libya - from its "in danger" list, acknowledging successful efforts to mitigate threats and restore their cultural and ecological integrity.
