Ubisoft has introduced AI agents to its game "Captain Laserhawk: The G.A.M.E.," which are now capable of voting and governing autonomously. This new feature allows players to interact with or override their agents' decisions, blending AI agency with human control. The game is set in a dystopian universe inspired by Ubisoft's

animated series "Captain Laserhawk: A Blood Dragon Remix," which is based on a game in the Far Cry series. The project includes a top-down multiplayer shooter and a text-based governance simulator, both of which rely on the same NFT characters called Niji Warriors.

The AI agents, developed in partnership with French AI developer LibertAI, are tied to NFT-based characters and can act autonomously, making in-game decisions on behalf of their owners. These decisions include analyzing proposals, casting votes, and logging actions on-chain. The agents are built with specific traits such as age, profession, personality, and values, and are powered by LibertAI’s models. All decisions and memory states are logged on Aleph Cloud to ensure transparency and prevent tampering.

The game is designed to adapt to each player’s actions and skills, providing a unique experience for every individual. Players can intervene if they choose, emphasizing the tension between AI agency and human control. The AI agents are isolated to each user’s environment, ensuring that any inappropriate content generated by the AI will not affect other players. The models used in Captain Laserhawk are curated to avoid inappropriate content, and the game adapts its difficulty and dialogue in real time based on the player's skill level.

This experiment in AI governance explores decentralized storytelling and AI-driven decision-making, all built on LibertAI’s technology. The game aims to connect in-game actions to governance, with the potential for AI agents to govern the game world itself. The experience is distinct for each player, with the game evolving based on their decisions, which are shaped by in-game actions. The goal is to create a world where players can have an impact and push back against a world ruled by AI agents, highlighting the tension between AI agency and human control.
