UAE Unveils Stargate AI Hub with Global Tech Giants in Ambitious Infrastructure Leap

The United Arab Emirates has announced a groundbreaking collaboration to construct a gigawatt-scale AI infrastructure initiative called "Stargate UAE." This marks the first international deployment of OpenAI's Stargate platform, an ambitious project developed in conjunction with entities such as G42, OpenAI, Oracle, NVIDIA, SoftBank, and Cisco. The initiative is part of the "OpenAI for Countries" framework, designed to bolster AI capabilities globally.

Situated within the newly established UAE–U.S. AI Campus in Abu Dhabi, the Stargate UAE project aims to build a 1GW AI cluster. It represents a significant leap in AI infrastructure, with G42 leading the construction efforts and OpenAI and Oracle overseeing operations. Cisco will provide essential zero-trust security and AI-ready connectivity, while NVIDIA is set to supply the state-of-the-art Grace Blackwell GB300 systems to enhance computational power.

The initial phase of the project involves the launch of a 200 MW AI cluster, anticipated to be operational by 2026. This deployment highlights the UAE's commitment to becoming a pivotal hub for AI innovation and infrastructure development. As part of the collaboration, G42 plans to make equivalent investments in AI infrastructure within the United States, underlining a robust transnational investment strategy.

Moreover, OpenAI has signaled its intent to expand the Stargate concept beyond the UAE, actively engaging with other countries interested in developing similar AI infrastructure projects. OpenAI's Chief Strategy Officer, Jason Kwon, will embark on a tour across the Asia-Pacific region to explore potential partnerships with governments and private sector entities, seeking to extend AI services to local communities and further global AI integration.
