Trump Meme Coin Wallet Shut Down After Cease and Desist Letter

The website for a crypto wallet associated with President Donald Trump's meme coin project went offline on Thursday, following the receipt of a cease and desist letter from another Trump-linked crypto initiative. This letter threatened legal action, leading to the abrupt shutdown of the wallet's online presence.

Earlier in the week, the Trump meme coin project, which is managed by the president's long-time business partner, Bill Zanker, launched a crypto wallet in collaboration with a major NFT marketplace. This wallet offered users the opportunity to earn financial rewards in the form of TRUMP tokens by signing up for the product's waitlist. The wallet was designed to facilitate the trading of various cryptocurrencies across multiple blockchains.

However, Trump's sons, who have been developing their own Trump-branded crypto wallet through their Ethereum decentralized finance platform, World Liberty Financial, were reportedly unaware of these plans. The sons, who are not involved in the meme coin project, have been working on their own crypto wallet for several months.

Shortly after the launch of the Trump meme coin-linked crypto wallet, Trump's sons took to social media to assert that they did not endorse the project's branding. On Thursday, World Liberty sent a cease and desist letter to both Fight, Fight, Fight, the LLC behind Trump’s meme coin operated by Zanker, and to the NFT marketplace involved in the project.

Following the report, internet users began to notice that the Trump Wallet website had become inaccessible. Attempts to access the site from multiple IP addresses were unsuccessful as of 5:45 pm ET. The project's social media account, however, remained active at that time, although some users reported that it had been deactivated at certain points during the day.

It is unclear whether President Trump himself has become involved in the dispute between his crypto business partners, all of whom are seeking to capitalize on his likeness and, in turn, enrich him. While Trump's social media accounts have promoted products related to his meme coin over the past few months, there has been no mention of the Trump Wallet since his family members expressed their opposition to the project.
