TRON's Justin Sun Defends CZ, Denies DOJ Cooperation Rumors

Justin Sun, the founder of TRON, has responded to recent reports alleging that Changpeng “CZ” Zhao, the co-founder of Binance, cooperated with the US Department of Justice (DOJ) against him. The reports, which surfaced on April 11, suggested that CZ agreed to provide evidence on Sun to prosecutors as part of his plea deal for violating anti-money laundering laws. The DOJ reportedly investigated Sun for suspected financial crimes under the Biden administration.

Sun downplayed the allegations, stating that he is not aware of the circulating rumors. He emphasized his close relationship with CZ, describing him as both a mentor and a close friend who has supported him throughout his entrepreneurial journey. Sun highlighted that CZ's conduct and principles remain a high standard for him to follow as a founder.

Sun also stressed his close collaboration with US authorities, noting that the DOJ has been one of TRON’s closest and most trusted partners. He mentioned that they have collaborated on numerous cases aimed at protecting users around the world. Sun maintained that his relationship with CZ and the DOJ remains professional and transparent, with direct and honest communication at all times.

Sun's response comes as CZ, who was recently appointed Strategic Advisor to the Pakistan Crypto Council, had been informed about a forthcoming report from the publication that would focus on him. CZ had previously dismissed the reports as baseless, stating that they were attempts to drive a wedge between him and Sun.
