US trade panel receives patent request to block liquid crystal display imports
The U.S. International Trade Commission (ITC) has received a trade complaint seeking to block imports of liquid crystal displays (LCDs) used in televisions and other devices. The complaint, filed by BH Innovations LLC, alleges patent violations by major television producers, including China's TCL, Hisense, South Korea's LG Electronics, and U.S.-based Vizio Holding [1].The complaint, under Section 337 of the Tariff Act of 1930, argues that the imported LCDs infringe upon a patent held by BH Innovations. The ITC, in a Federal Register notice, invited interested parties and government agencies to file comments on the public interest issues raised by the complaint within eight days after publication [1].
The ITC also asked for comments on whether BH Innovations or its licensees have the capacity to replace the volume of articles potentially subject to the blocking of the respondent firms' imports within a commercially reasonable time. This request aims to assess the potential impact on the U.S. economy, public health, and consumers [1].
Meanwhile, in a separate development, ETHZilla Corporation (Nasdaq: ETHZ) announced plans to deploy approximately $100 million worth of Ethereum (ETH) in the top liquid restaking protocol, Ether.fi. This move signifies a strategic evolution in ETHZilla's treasury management approach, aligning innovation with prudent asset stewardship [2].
Ether.fi's restaking protocol offers users the opportunity to stake ETH and earn incentives for protecting the network, while also supporting other protocols to increase yield. The partnership with EtherFi represents a significant step for ETHZilla in engaging with decentralized finance (DeFi) protocols [2].
