Toyota is addressing the needs of working parents by opening four new childcare centers at its manufacturing facilities. The new centers will serve parents at Toyota North Carolina, Toyota Mississippi, Toyota Alabama, and Toyota West Virginia, in addition to the two existing centers in Kentucky and Indiana. The centers are developed in collaboration with high-quality external childcare providers and will be tailored to the production schedules of each plant, allowing employees to balance work and family responsibilities.
Toyota is taking significant steps to support its manufacturing team members by opening four new childcare centers across its U.S. operations. These centers will serve employees at Toyota North Carolina, Toyota Mississippi, Toyota Alabama, and Toyota West Virginia, in addition to the two existing facilities in Kentucky and Indiana. The new centers are being developed in collaboration with high-quality external childcare providers and will be tailored to the production schedules of each plant, helping employees balance work and family responsibilities.
The new centers are part of Toyota's broader commitment to creating a more inclusive and supportive work environment. Denita Neville, vice president of Toyota’s Corporate Shared Services, stated, "At Toyota, we know it is paramount for working parents to have access to quality childcare. Offering childcare motivates and empowers our team members, making our industry more inclusive and helping our smallest learners of today become our biggest leaders of tomorrow."
Two of the new centers at Toyota’s manufacturing sites will begin caring for children this year, with all four centers expected to open by 2027. Toyota North Carolina, located in Liberty, N.C., opened in August 2025 and will care for up to 312 children over two shifts. Toyota Mississippi, in Blue Springs, Miss., is set to open in fall 2025 and will accommodate up to 238 children over two shifts. Toyota Alabama, in Huntsville, Ala., will open in 2026 and will care for up to 274 children over two shifts. Toyota West Virginia, in Buffalo, W.Va., will be operational by 2027 and will serve up to 240 children over two shifts.
All centers will introduce an age-based curriculum for children aged six-weeks to five-years, promoting learning through motor development, physical, cognitive, and social-emotional growth. Each facility will be equipped with a commercial kitchen, STEM room, movement matters space, and an outdoor playground. Toyota has a history of offering onsite, 24-hour-a-day care at its largest global site in Georgetown, Ky., since 1993, with the center providing care for more than 270 children and welcoming thousands of team members’ children since its opening.
Toyota Indiana opened its childcare center in 2003 and is currently undergoing an expansion that will be completed in September 2025, accommodating up to 366 children over two shifts. Patricia Pastrana Arroyo, a group leader at Toyota Indiana, praised the facility, stating, "As a working mom, it’s been such a relief to have childcare that supports my work schedule. The early education program is exceptional. The teachers are nurturing, attentive and genuinely caring toward each child. They keep parents informed with daily reports, pictures and updates, which helps me feel connected to my son even when I’m not there."
All sites will go through the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) accreditation process, which establishes standards for quality childcare programs. Beyond onsite childcare centers, Toyota also offers benefits through Bright Horizons, helping employees find ongoing childcare, make plans for known and unexpected gaps, or arrange temporary care for family members.
